The eldest daughter of an ordinary American family, Maria Brewer has been organizing, problem solving, and activating for change since the beginning. The first person in her working class family to get a four year degree, Maria understands the aspirations of families across Tennessee struggling to afford gas, groceries and the roof over their heads without going into debt.
Maria spent 10 years earning her living as an organizer and has been volunteering, campaigning, and leading since 2006. Serving Democratic organizations, local candidates, and affiliated organizations in the progressive space, Maria helped Democrats get active and engaged at the grassroots in every part of the state. Culminating with 95 functioning Democratic county parties, she worked to give every corner of the state a way to engage directly in steering civic action.
Now she’s running for the US Senate to lower costs for families, hold corrupt leaders accountable, and build faith that if we renew our commitment to each other, a better world is brewing.
I’m running for the US Senate because when ordinary people work together, we create extraordinary power. The power that can stop the corruption coming out of DC that reaches its hand into our pocket every time we go to the grocery store, or pump a tank of gas, or pick up a prescription for a sick child.
I’m running because I know there’s a better world brewing. Whether you live on a city block or a country road, we all want the same things. We deserve a good job that puts a roof over our head and food on the table. We deserve the freedom to be who we are and express ourselves in the world safely. We deserve good schools for our kids, to have medicine when we get sick, and to retire with dignity.
But the corrupt ultra-billionaires and authoritarian tough-guys are working overtime to convince us that this world just isn’t possible. We can’t afford to let their scapegoating and fraud continue.
That’s why I’ve got a 3 plank platform we can stand on together to bring forth a new birth of liberty and justice for all!
