Chaney Mosley is a fourth-generation Tennessean, public school teacher, Army veteran, father, and Democratic candidate for Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District. He was born in Nashville where his family raised hogs on a farm in Antioch here in Davidson County. After buying another farm in Rutherford County, he grew up in Eagleville and was raised by a single mother after losing his father at a young age. He earned degrees in agricultural business and agricultural education, served in the U.S. Army Reserve and Tennessee Army National Guard, and has spent more than two decades as a teacher, teacher educator, researcher, and advocate for workforce development and public education.
Today, Chaney serves as a professor and associate director in the School of Agriculture at Middle Tennessee State University, where his work focuses on education, agriculture, workforce development, and rural communities. He and his husband are raising three boys right here in East Nashville who all attend MNPS public schools. Chaney is running for Congress because he believes working families deserve leaders who understand the challenges they face firsthand and who are committed to bringing down the cost of living, strengthening public education, investing in rural communities, protecting personal freedoms, and building an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.
Making Life More Affordable: Families across Tennessee are working hard, but too many feel like they’re falling behind. Housing costs are rising. Childcare is expensive. Healthcare costs continue to strain family budgets. Groceries, utilities, and everyday necessities cost more than they did just a few years ago. Congress should focus on practical solutions that help working people keep more of what they earn and build a more secure future.
